UK museums and galleries were invited to submit applications for The Hallett Independent Acquisitions Award: a, £8,000 purchase grant to acquire a print at the 2017 London Original Print Fair.
The Hatton Gallery, Newcastle, won 2017's Hallett Independent Acquisitions Award. Curator Rob Airey came to the Fair with the intention of buying one key piece for the collection, but after seeing the wealth of material available to buy at LOPF, purchased 12 prints for the Hatton Gallery collection. Artists include: Paula Rego, Bronwen Sleigh, Richard Smith and Bruce McLean.

The winner of the inaugural Award in 2016 was The Atkinson, Southport. The Atkinson bought a portfolio of 12 etchings by Rachel Whiteread from the esteemed London print publisher, Paragon.
